To celebrate the career of a true icon, Herbert V. Kohler, Jr., NEWH will be presenting the 2012 ICON runner-up scholarship in his name at this not-to-be-missed breakfast. Join us as we recognize Ashley Sarazen, the 2012 NEWH ICON Honorable Mention Scholarship Recipient, at this BDwest networking event.

NEWH will also be presenting the FR-1 scholarship, funded by Fabricut Contract, to Angela Poovey, from the Art Institute of Colorado.  Harvey Nudelman, also an NEWH ICON, has funded this award for the past six years.

Chula Vista Bayfront: The Neighborhood of the Future

Get an insiders’ view of the design opportunities and challenges involved in transforming more than 500 acres of under-utilized and vacant spaces in Chula Vista and on Port tidelands (located just seven miles outside of San Diego) into a world class destination with hotels, restaurants, entertainment, parks and an improved marina. This project is one of the largest mixed-use development opportunities in the United States. Panelists will include representatives from Pacifica Companies, the real estate developer/investor for the project, and the local authorities involved in the master plan.

Fashion and fun await at this NEWH LA Founding Chapter and Orange County Regional event as leading design firms take on the fashion challenge of creating couture designs from a box of materials supplied by BDwest exhibitors and sponsors. From carpet capris to tile tube tops, come see what some of the country’s leading hospitality design teams have created at the NEWH/BDwest Hospitality Fashion Challenge.  One of San Diego’s hottest clubs becomes our home for the evening as we witness what some of the industry’s most creative minds have envisioned.  See something you like?  Then be sure to hang around to the end, when all the garments and accessories will be sold via live auction.

Design teams include: Architectural Concepts, Inc.; Gettys; HBA/Hirsch Bedner Associates; MLH Design Group; Puccini Group and Studio Hatch.
