Upper South Studio was founded in 1979 as an experiment in art and commerce. The concept was to set up a production company and publishing house for the work of Laurence Rosen.
The Studio is a former post office in the 350 year old Moravian
village of Salem, North Carolina. Eventually, Upper South Studio evolved and grew to serve a global clientele in the hospitality, gaming, and travel industries. Rosen’s designs range from wovens and printed fabric, graphic editions, to developing environments and branded products.
Our core value of client collaboration is based on the conviction that design is both project driven and site specific. The growth has been primarily managed by Susan Rosen, co-founder and principal, who continues to oversee ongoing evolution of Upper South Studio.
